As of June 17, there are only 105 days to spud with the Ensco 8501 rig. To prepare for the dry tow voyage to Corpus Christi, Texas, the rig was positioned and loaded onto the heavy lift carrier Osprey on the morning of June 15, 2009. The cribbing and welding crews were on ship ready to weld in and secure the 8501 to Osprey’s deck. The rig will be leaving shallow water anchorage in Singapore on June 18, 2009, to begin an estimated six-week transit to the Gulf of Mexico.
